ABOUT THIS COMMISSION
The McLaren 720s Spider is one of those cars that immediately impresses not just with numbers but with nuance. Beneath its dihedral doors lies a symphony of carbon-fibre craftsmanship - Monocage II-S, to be precise, granting the chassis an ethereal stiffness despite the absence of a fixed roof. It’s as if the material science has been whispered through by aerospace engineers with a flair for theatre.

Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, mid-mounted and balletic in its delivery, summons 710 bhp (720 ps) and surges with a kind of brutal elegance, sprinting from 0-60 mph in under three seconds. But the numbers, while jaw-slackening, don’t quite capture the way it pivots through bends - light, alive, and almost telepathic. Roof up or down, the 720s Spider isn’t just a convertible supercar. It’s a masterclass in how performance and tactility can coexist, wrapped in a shape that looks perpetually in motion.

              Based in England and operating globally for both agencies and client brands, Tim Wallace has received many awards over his career; most recently Commercial Photographer of the Year 2021 at the British Photography Awards in London for his work with his client McLaren. Previous awards have included Professional and Commercial Photographer of the Year Awards as well as Car Photographer of the Year at the UK Motor Industry Awards, Sapphire Pegasus Business Aviation Award, and Best Creative Business Awards in the UK. Spanning the commercial and advertising sectors working through his transport-based clients and agencies, he has been at the forefront of his field for over a decade.
